What is Intranasal Therapy?

New Therapy via ARTG-Registered* Nasal Spray for Eligible Patients

Intranasal Therapy is a professionally administered option available to eligible individuals who have not found relief with conventional treatments. This Program involves the use of an ARTG-registered* nasal spray, provided under medical supervision in a structured clinical setting.

The process begins with an online screening form, followed by a telehealth appointment with a nurse practitioner and a comprehensive psychiatric assessment. If deemed appropriate, a personalised care plan is developed in consultation with our clinical team.

This Program is currently offered at our clinics in Sydney CBD and Samford Valley near Brisbane. Additional locations are planned for the NSW Central Coast and Townsville in 2025.

Frequently asked questions about Intranasal Therapy

Intranasal Therapy is a professionally administered Program that uses an ARTG-registered* nasal spray. It is designed for eligible individuals who have not experienced sufficient relief with conventional treatments and is delivered under medical oversight in a structured clinical environment.

The nasal spray is administered via the nasal passages, allowing for rapid absorption through the mucous membranes. This supports fast-acting effects compared to traditional oral medications and is conducted in a supervised clinical setting.

This Program is typically considered for eligible individuals with treatment-resistant low mood or other persistent symptoms that have not responded to standard treatment options. Eligibility is determined on a case-by-case basis following a comprehensive assessment.

Intranasal Therapy is currently available at our Sydney CBD and Samford Valley (near Brisbane) clinics. Additional locations—including the NSW Central Coast and Townsville—are scheduled to open in 2025.

Eligible individuals self-administer the nasal spray during each session under direct clinical supervision. Sessions include ongoing observation to monitor response and ensure appropriate support.

  • Induction Phase (First 4 weeks): Two sessions per week to establish treatment response and baseline care.

  • Maintenance Phase: Gradual shift to one session every fortnight, adjusted based on individual progress and clinical recommendations.

Each session includes nasal spray administration followed by a monitoring period where clinical staff provide observation and check-ins. Adjustments to your care plan may be made based on your response.

Common side effects may include dizziness, nausea, or increased blood pressure. Your clinical team will discuss potential side effects with you in detail during your assessment and prior to your first session.

You’ll receive ongoing support throughout the Program, including regular check-ins, monitoring, and care planning from a multidisciplinary team.

A referral and screening process is required. Our clinicians will assess your medical history and current condition to determine if this approach is appropriate for your circumstances.
